This is a tough subject. Once upon a time, it was true of most marriages irrespective of where they took place. For any number of reasons, most of which were either economical, religious, or political, marriages were pre-planned. Ever see Fiddler on the Roof?

Where it breaks down, I guess, is where the intended spouse is abusive.

If this is you in your poem, which was, but the way, very nice in its brevity, I hope it works for you, and you find love and happiness in time.
