Perhaps too much of a tradition for me, in the symbolism as well as in the rhythm. But what is strange, the asumed rooting of the poem in the same tradition, of which I do not know much and which I like to imagine as NOT European-American, has some undeniable attractivity for me. It is too late to ask how I would read the poem if I did not know about the author's origin.

Discipline in employing metaphors and the cleanliness resulting from it, as I perceive them here, are virtues sympathetic in any case. The repeated final line, as played off against the changing three others, is a good intensifier.
