Elusive am I, but honest and sure.
I do not abide perfection, but am naturally, pure.
I am, a thousand, loving, tender, words.
Yet have no need, to be read, said, or heard.
My path, you know, never shall run smooth.
I delight in expression, but have no need to be proved.
I take no place in fight or quarrel,
But that's no cause to question my courage or moral.
I shall not be tied, I will not be bound.
Still, I am loyal, constant and peaceful and sound.
I am; many a splendored thing,
But have no cause for fancy bling.
Sweet sonnets, of the darling buds who shook,
I am everywhere! but never where you seem to look.
As new as a child, as fresh as the dew,
Yet for hundreds of years, I have surrounded you.
I'm there when you rise, I'm there when you fall.
My wisdom is precious, thus still plentiful.
I am: The patience to your frustration,
The forgiveness to your irritation.
The concern in your insistence,
The spirit in your persistence.
The peace in your tolerance,
The compassion in your understanding.
The reassurance in your smile,
The tears in your laughter,
The comfort in your silence,
I conquer all! but take no place in war,
I am; no less, no more.
Precious with the passing grains of time.
Always gentle, always kind.
Keep me near,
Keep me true,
I'll always be with you.
