A Stubborn Father (Reverse Sleeping Beauty)

A Stubborn Father (Reverse Sleeping Beauty)

A day long dreaded for my gentle love
Monitors beep, "get well soon" cards surround
The doctor removed his sterilized glove

Bedside, my emerald eyes rain down remorse
Around a neck a silver chain was bound
Bound to my throat is the memory's source

Fluids flow to him from a bag above
His bed is soft, but his sleep needed sound
The doctor removed his sterilized glove

He still smile's brushing back my hair, of course
Talks to me of our days on the playground
Bound to my throat is the memory's source

A sticker on his hand of a gray cartoon dove
She wants daddy to have the stickers she found
The doctor removed his sterilized glove

He laughs, plays with her, the news won't run course
Where is daddy? He's nowhere to be found
Bound to my throat is the memory's source
The doctor removed his sterilized glove

I hope you enjoyed my work, tell me what you thought of it.
