Unzipping the Fly

Unzipping the Fly

Is the fly a fly wee thing,
or is it merely practicing
a fly-by past the control tower
to help evade the fly spray's shower?

For when the jet flies from the tin
to force the fly into a spin,
it always knows which way to fly,
a feature of the compound eye.

The musca's flight is governed through
a pair of wings and halteres too;
so they can breakdance in the air
and freely vomit everywhere.

If it observes forgotten waste,
regardless of your sense of taste,
the wily fly will gladly spew,
to liquefy its toxic stew.

A stifling of its respiration
guarantees asphyxiation;
then the fly will buzz no more
but drop like flies upon the floor.

And though the spray is used, with reason,
flies make their mark in one short season.
