Dear Diary Challenge, "O.B. III"

Dear Diary Challenge, "O.B. III"

The sting of sun lingers
the sweet salt licked from your lips
my ocean

Ocean Beach III often fought
childish battles with the wealthy
we had sex and pot
drug fuel and some alcohol
they had bikes that shone and tennis courts

and one day I decided here would lay my dreams
among the gathered shoreline
to be swept by the laughter of waves
along with the golden dirt hued foam

There was a night that summer I ran
fleeing the sand, lost my shoes too
my first night of drinking
my first night of getting felt up
as evidenced by the next day bra absence

I dont go there anymore
that summer from the bottom fed crawlers
my mother split our years in two
away from the oily coconut scent
back to the green pollen and pavement

childrens needs often tear with time
especially when the envious sunfish
catches a glimpse into the beauty of shells
much like the high tides jealousy
of the low tides social scene

There is no more magic in the ocean now
I no longer dream in color.
