I''d kissed her lips a thousand times
in waking dreams,
I saw her beautiful dark eyes,
smiling at me, sweetly, tenderly,
I know she knew,
but she said nothing,
perhaps out of tact,
or perhaps because she simply
did not want to face it,
and the time passed.
Simple attraction,
changed to deep, heartfelt love.
Complicated, painful, and unrequitted,
yet that did not lessen it.
The more I knew her soul,
greater grew the love.
I know she knew,
but said nothing,
perhaps out of tact,
or perhaps because she simply
did not want to face it.
And so it''s come to this.
One mistake,
one moment of indescretion,
one button pressed,
on a cold, dark night,
I am only a man,
we all suffer weakness,
but now my heart is left
broken and bleeding,
and she is gone.
Perhaps out of tact,
or perhaps because she simply,
was not able,
to face me.
