Alcohol Sorrorws

Staring down at the bottom of a shot glass
I keep filling it up but it never seems to last
Sooner or later the memories will fade
If I drink a little more maybe relieve me of my pain

I sit here thinking, tomorrow is a new day
Spend the night wishing things are going to change
Watching time pass but it all remains the same
Another disappointment as its just another day

Trapped by my thoughts that bind me in chains
So lost and confused, broken and strained
This empty shell is all that remains
That neither drugs nor alcohol can cure or save

Although I try to take one step at a time
When I put one foot forward, I seem to step back nine
So this shall be my final drink
As I wont see you tomorrow
I bid you goodnight.

Angela McFarane,
Motherwell.
