Hangmans noose

I had no silver I had no gold
people whisper I got no soul.
I trod through the dirty side streets
mingling with the losers and the cheats.
With blisters on my feet
walking in snow, rain and scorching heat.

Oh, my God I know not what to say,
just send that hangmans noose I pray.

He which I have birth, lays deep down in the dirt.
Oh mother will I never have joy and mirth.
Cos of that little one in the dusty earth.

Oh, my God I know not what to say,
just send that hangmans noose I pray.

You say, mother everyone thinks Im guilty.
They look at me, and I know Im filthy.
In my heart I know Im not guilty.
but it hurts mother cos u think of me that way.

Oh, my God I know not what to say,
just send that hangmans noose i pray.

Oh brother wont you believe me.
please dont be like the others and forsaken thee.
You have been my only friend from birth to the very end.

Please , please believe in your sister,
I have walked with pain, look see the blister.
Dont look away, dont turn your back. Please, please Jack.

Oh, my God I know not what to say,
just send that hangmans noose i pray.

Lord you took my baby away,
Its cos of this they whisper and say.
Killer, murdererr, cook her goose,
take her and hang her on the hangmans noose.

He had a fever of 110,
I had no silver, I had no gold,
I had no help, I was losing my soul.

Oh, my God I know not what to say,
just send that hangmans noose I pray.

We were alone my little wee lad and me,
I left him alone under the tall oak tree.
With a fever of 110,
my only option was too find some men.
Oh, my God I know not what to say,
just send that hangmans noose I pray.

I sold my body and I sold my soul,
cos I had no silver and I had no gold.
I needed help for my sickly lad.
But alas it was far to late,
cos when I finally got that little piece of silver and a pence of gold,
my wee little lad was ice cold.

Oh, my God I know not what to say,
just send that hangmans noose I pray.

As i slip the noose over my head,
I look down down at the spot , where my little lad laid dead.
It may be too late, cos god took you through the pearly gate.
as for I, I have a date, with the hangmans noose.

Oh, my God I know not what to say,
just send that hangmans noose I pray.

As I gasp for that last breath,
I feel no fear, I just welcome death.
