Gentlest of Men (Robin Williams Elegy)

Gentlest of Men (Robin Williams Elegy)

Gentlest of men,
using humor to spread love,
to put a smile upon a dying child's face,
to let them know the joy of laughter
before they pass...
never letting the child within himself die,
keeping that part of him sacred,
radiant and glowing,
to radiate an innocent
and honest caring for others...
sadly, hiding sorrow
behind his contagious grin,
the rush of laughter
hushing the crying within...
the gentlest of men
are many times the strongest,
and he was...oh, he was...
till his smile finally cracked
falling to the floor,
as he slipped that black belt noose
around his neck...
no more laughter now...
yet still...
no more sorrow either.
