In the Desolate Darkness... (Lighthouse Challenge)

In the Desolate Darkness... (Lighthouse Challenge)

Ah, the beacon...only false light,
no trueness of the sun, nor the moon,
nor even a single star,
only a fake, momentary passing of a phantom like beam,
merely a feigning of love,
passing through me, then passing away,
dissipating into the fog, no more glimmer of hope...
it left quickly, quietly as it came,
and though it may turn round, coming, breaking away again,
still, a falsity, a farce, an illusion of light,
truly it came and left for good,
in the desolate darkness of everlasting night.
