Midnight Walk...( Personification Challenge)

Trees trembling fingers graze the top of my head,
taunting me,
and the moon cries her shimmering tears upon me,
with each footstep I can feel the earth beneath me,
grasping my boots, clenching tightly,
in an evilistic effort to pull me down,
down to the netherworld for infinity,
as the breezes breath becomes heavy,
cold and labored against my skin,
a fevered chill comes over me,
and I hear the daunting darkness
snickering at me through an eerie silence,
...defying the Holy Spirit itself.
If I do not make it home tonight,
light a candle upon the altar for me,
let it's flickering flame reach,
with outstretched arms of love and light,
to guide my spirit back,
whether it be to the welcoming hello
of your feather bed quilts expectantly waiting for me,
or to the loving embrace of Heaven's Gates eternally.

"Do not go gentle into that good night, rage, rage against the dying of the light." - Dylan Thomas
