Kelly Cherry has written poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and has translated. What is the professional difficulty with a writer using many genres? What does her doing this have to do with where she is from? How does a work find a form? Why, when it's been done so many times, should a work like Antigone be translated over and over? Writing poetry requires the writer to turn inward. How is writing fiction different from this? Why did it take courage for her to start writing non-fiction?
