Challenge 14 – Tit for Tat

Challenge 14 – Tit for Tat

Her high heel shoes
Walk the pavement,
Reverberating weariness,
In the midnight hour.
Makeup pathetically covering
A black eye.
As she strides through the night,
Hips swaying in rhythm
To a song she once knew
In another life.
She is waiting,
Praying to bring home the money,
Not to risk his violent rage.
A black Lincoln drives up,
“C’mon in”,
she does her job,
almost void of feeling,
then gets out,
the night still young,
and waits,
For the next expensive car.
Night after night is the same,
nameless faces,
And dirty desires,
Trick for a treat,
Tit for tat,
Life on the street,
To feed a fat cat.
