Bev (Challenge 15) A True Story

Bev (Challenge 15) A True Story

She used to be pretty,
Have a boyfriend,
Have a job,
Have a car,
Be happy,
But all that’s gone now,
Lost to her inner demons.
She is reduced
To something like
The walking dead.
Hair uncombed,
Expressionless face,
Blank, staring eyes,
And a walk,
More like a shuffle,
No flair left.
When we talk,
She answers flatly,
Too overwhelmed
With her inner demons,
She can’t hold
A conversation anymore.
I can see she is lost,
Too far over the edge,
To ever come back.
I cry for her loss,
For, she used to be pretty,
Had a boyfriend,
Had a job,
Had a car,
And was happy,
But all that’s gone now.
And it’s not coming back.
