P.T.S.D. (Challenge 15) True Story

P.T.S.D. (Challenge 15) True Story

A summer breeze
Slammed the door closed,
And this seemingly composed businessman,
Frantically jumped to the floor.
Slowly and carefully he got up,
Looking embarrassed and sheepish,
Apologized,
And mumbled something about the war.
After all these years,
He’s still fighting in it.
He feels the trembling ground,
Beneath the roar
Of mortar shells and bomb,
He sees the faces of his buddies,
Covered in death.
He still wears shrapnel,
Deep beneath his skin.
Finally he was released from the war,
But the war was never released from him.

"The greatest warriors are the ones who stand for peace." H. Near
