The Novelist (Challenge 16)

The Novelist (Challenge 16)

Scribbling to the page,
The story in her
That aches to break out,
She writes through the night,
Too inspired to sleep.
Hundreds of outlines
Sprawled about her desk,
And a trash can
Filled to the brim
With crumpled white paper,
Show her deep struggle.
Page by page,
Chapter by chapter,
The slow process
Frustrates and yet invigorates her,
At the same time.
She NEEDS to write this story.
It is her everything.
Five years of her life
Committed to it,
Yet her passion burns on.
Then the brilliant night comes,
The last page is written,
She lets go a sigh,
Smiles and sleeps,
Her story,
Finally told.
