"Summer" Challenge 22

"Summer" Challenge 22

Looking back
through the haze
I always see
the sun of August

The days slowly growing
shorter
Freedom fading
as the light dims

The fresh rush of June
drained from my veins
July's heat
no longer burning its brand
into my skin
and knowing my flesh will pale in the waning months
of the year

So when I am gray
and withered
weak and broken
I will always have the memories
I made
in those happy days
of summer
to splint
my full
but feeble life
