Genuine Love

Genuine Love

What are the threads that hold us together?
What are the invisible fibers connecting us to one and other?
Friendship? An undying love for fellow mankind?
Or convenience? Manipulation?
How much can one person get out of the other?
What happens when a relationship is no longer beneficial?
Is one just cast aside, and forgotten?
Or to be treated like laundry?
To be rung out like a rag,
to get every last drop of worth
squeezed out before taking it to the cleaners?

Is love genuine?
Or masked, to hide a more sinister purpose?
I think actual genuine love is rare.
Or if it is abundant, it hides itself well,
In a world of hate and deceit.
I also think genuine love is taken for granted.

Happy is the man who knows value in love.
An old proverb says- "If you find work that you love, then you will never work a day in your life."
This can be applied to marriage.
It is said that marriage is work.
But if the marriage in question contains genuine love,
Marriage is no work at all, simply because you love it.

Therefore categorizing all failed marriages as having a lack of genuine love.

And That's what holds us together

A mutual desire to love, and to be loved.

But to find genuine love, one needs to give genuine love.
