There from Here

There from Here

No scarcity of mediocrity
victimless crimes
that claim nonetheless
Trying with honor yet flailing,
failing
Questions asked
answers known
Twisted spine from backward looking
gaining, gaining

The light seems distant
teasing glow
its servants an audience
clamouring its attention
Higher frequencies tuned to its glory
in seemingly effortless participation

How to get there?
Trapped in wreckage
eyes trained, strained
on the speck of hope

A tiny wish
for more
will be met a thousand-fold
pulling bootstraps
lifting
movement steady
fueled by gratitude
sustained with forgiveness
wrapped in light

A knowing that the distance
between what is
and what can be
is the length of a reach
