Alone in December

Alone in December

She looked at me,
Her eyes the cold fist
of a fascist, and I knew
she would not take no
for an answer

I smiled
already bitten
knowing full well
I could not go as far
as she wanted

But she wore silk like sunshine
rich and bright
and when it slipped off
I was like
God help me now.

And she pressed me
through the shadows
Slid through the moonlight
like a dove on a breeze
and reached for my hand

I could not even slap myself sober
for her

My resolve snapped like a tender reed
in a blatant tornado
as I collapsed into myself
and shared nothing
but a reach
like an air raid siren blaring
in the dead of night

I was shot
when I fell to the bed with her

The cold, click of night shattered

The heat of our bodies
fresh on the sheets
