Simple Words

You lift my heart in minstrel verse,
With harmonies that sing of praise.
But doleful longing can''t traverse
The depth of distance in your gaze.
I''ve long desired that velvet kiss;
With suffered wish, to glimpse your face.
Each wish is but love''s reminisce,
A burning yearn for your embrace.

I only have my simple word
To stand in stead of sweet caress.
But know, my words are warmly stirred
with promise born of tenderness.
Across the reach of space and time
Come strings of stardust''s woo in rhyme.
