The evening colors have gathered
Into a cool, fluorescent cave
Of dreams

It is here
Where I find time
Neither sad nor shelterless

So sit,
Listening to your stories
Like a spellbound child
Whose reason and fancy
Are unfettered and fearless

When you are finished,
I look to those faces beyond me,
Paling slow in the blue of empty

Their semblances of weird happiness
Have been likened unto you,

No, not just loved,
But adored too

For in my mere asking,

'Come with me to touch the sky'

Was chased away that feeling of now
That feeling of when,
For a time,
I had gently wept over your hands

Tho' my tears too numb
Too cold
For you to feel
