Golden Band

Golden Band

You slide me off with so much grace
A bitter tear runs down your face
I once was a symbol of so much of your life
He was a husband and you were a wife
Turning off the light, you climb into bed
I wonder often what runs through your head
As I lie on the dresser while you lie with this man
Do you ever look down to glance at your hand
Do you ever remember back to years before now
Could that love be rekindled some way or somehow
Or is the idea way too far-fetched, your circumstances too complicated to understand for something as simple as a golden wedding band?
