Gift To The Empty Night

Gift To The Empty Night

The inky blackness of the cold, empty night embraces me like a tightly wrapped, smothering blanket.

The all-encompassing, dead darkness chokes me, for my impotent breathing yields nothing but dizziness, as I pant futilely in the sickening void.

Suddenly, there is the life-giving warmth and golden light of the blessed yellow sun, and the haunting romanticism of the reflected light of the white, full moon.

Suddenly, there is the sparkling light of a billion winking stars, twinkling in the great dome of the once black night sky.

For you are the gift to the empty night.
Your eyes ignite the sun.
Your smile energizes the moon.
Your laughter tosses the shimmering stars into the heavens.

And you are the gift to a choking, smothering, dead soul, walking in blackness, and panting uselessly in a lifeless darkness.
You are the gift to my spirit. I dwell within your grace, and live within your loving heart.
