There it lies, at his feet; crushed, bleeding, and blackened.
He bends, picks it up slowly, and gazes upon its ruined remains.
With a sigh, he begins to walk away, holding it close to his breast.
How he will ever find a way to heal it, he cannot begin to guess.
But he knows that somehow he must.
After all, it is the only heart he possesses.
