How does the sparrow learn to fly again,
when his wing hangs against his side at a sick, broken, painful angle, while the hungry cat waits in the dark shadows of the nearby bushes?

How does the fawn learn to run again,
when her leg lies bleeding and broken under her panting, agonized young body, while the ravenous wolf stands alert under cover of the forest pines?

How does a shattered heart learn to love again,
when his broken soul trembles in fear,
and his sickened mind churns with anguish
at the loss of a love that he trusted
to save his fragile, wounded life from the deep blue sorrow of a long loneliness?
