My Last Love Poem

My Last Love Poem

This will be my last love poem.
I've had enough.
No more.
No more talk of racing hearts, hypnotized minds,
captured, enslaved spirits, or resurrected souls.
No more lines about silver moon-glow, golden sunshine,
twinkling, shimmering starlight, or cotton-candy clouds.
No more words of heartbreaking smiles, divine laughter,
sublime, angelic faces, or blood-stirring, fiery eyes.
I've had enough.
No more.
This will be my last love poem.
Let the other entranced, naive, weak, silly, foolish
members of my gender continue to carry passion's torch.
I'm out of the race, and walking the old familiar path
known by the name "alone".
