A Flash of Hazel

A Flash of Hazel

Last evening, as I wandered through the thick, suffocating blackness, in the lonely land of hopelessness and lost dreams;
my weary head was humming dully from the usual dreary,
repetitious rhythm of "Alone", "Alone", "Alone",
while my red, glassy eyes perused the familiar, steel-grey
landscape of stale nothingness, and stagnant solitude.

Suddenly, from the depths of the darkness, a tiny spark
of light from an unknown source flashed at the corner of my eye
with a brief flicker of sparkling, shimmering hazel.

Our blessed encounter was painfully short, but exquisitely sublime, with a delicious, spirit-infusing beauty that transcended its dwarfed duration, filling my fragile, wounded heart with a joy nearly forgotten, and dissolving the darkness in my sick, lost, dizzy brain; flooding my head with that pure, bright, life-giving flash of divine, precious hazel!
