Confessions ("Sometimes")

Confessions ("Sometimes")

I find myself reaching out a trembling finger
and lightly brushing it across the picture of your face,
while my eyes well-up with tears of loneliness and regret.

I catch myself drifting off into a nostalgic daydream
of our lips pressed together in fiery, passionate love,
while our bodies join in hot, erotic, sensuous bonding.

I indulge in pathetic, hopeless, empty fantasies
of that which never was, and never can be:
The two of us, always and forever, tightly locked in perfect love.

Oh god, why do I waste so much time on sometimes?
