Watching The Moon

Watching The Moon

The pale, yellowish, reflected light from the full moon
emanates through the fuzzy ring that surrounds it
like a spectral halo of wet, hazy ocean fog
penetrated by the beckoning beam of a lighthouse
perched on a rocky cliff, as a welcoming, radiant beacon.

I cannot see it - I cannot feel it,
while I'm standing here watching the moon.

The wispy grey clouds float slowly over the pocked face
of the round moon, creating a haunting, gothic image,
like an old Victorian story of eerie midnight happenings
on a dark, damp, windy moor, deep in the English countryside,
where a bone-chilling howl echoes across the foggy plains.

I cannot see it - I cannot feel it,
while I'm standing here watching the moon.

Holding her small, soft, warm hand in mine.
Kissing her sweet, moist, passionate mouth.
Gazing into her hypnotic, soul-entrapping eyes.
Watching her walk away from me forever:
All while standing beneath the full moon's benign light...

That's all I can see - That's all I can feel,
while I'm standing here watching the moon.
