Crawling No More

Crawling No More

Like a whimpering, kicked puppy,
I would crawl to you in shameless humility,
with trembling limbs and downcast eyes,
while you hovered over me with arms on hips,
and a cocky, satisfied smirk,
glaring down at my pathetic, weepy figure.

I whined, cried, pandered and pleaded,
like a hungry child begging for food.
I kissed your feet, and licked your shoes.
I crawled to you, and you kicked me
square in the face... I'll crawl no more.
Im back on my feet; Im standing up now.
And I'll crawl no more!
