That Day (The Arrival)

That Day (The Arrival)

And so it begins:
That dark, dreaded day has
arrived at last; stopping me dead,
and sending a rush of watery sickness
into my shaky, heaving chest.
It rises up like a shiny, black bubble
of hot tar, and with a splattering pop,
it showers me with a thick, scalding
agony that sticks to my skin,
searing and burning, while I grit my teeth
with screaming, painful, fiery fury,
as the long expected but incomprehensible,
heart melting, mind numbing news
relentlessly sizzles its way into my brain,
and brands my writhing, trembling body
with those hot, black, evil tattoos:
"She's found another man"
