I Wish You Had Killed Me

I Wish You Had Killed Me

I wish you had plunged a dagger into my chest
and twisted it; digging, pushing with both hands, and sticking, stabbing, slicing, mangling;
rendering my heart to bloody, dead, chopped flesh,
and dropping me to my knees, screaming, howling;
clutching at my guts as they slide out between my bloody hands with a slimy, slippery plop.
I wish you had destroyed my heart with a knife,
and left me to squirm, bleed, and writhe
on the ground in unthinkable, unimaginable
agony. For I would be dead by now, and not
have to watch the unspeakable image spin around and around in my fire-filled, sizzling, dizzy brain:
You... him... together... no, no... Please kill me!
