The Song of the Wind

The Song of the Wind

My teeth chatter, and my body shivers
as I rub my numb, stiff fingers,
hearing the shrill whistle of the
blowing wind in my cold, red ears,
and feeling an icy, bitter chill that
goes far deeper than my skin:
Love is dead to me now, and all
relationships have become corpses.
The deception is over; the game is up.
The truth freezes my diseased heart,
and hardens my warped brain,
as the sharp, glassy wind sings
its grey, sorrowful, wintery song:
"Love is a lie... Love is a lie... Love is a lie..."
