The Iris

The Iris

O elegant, fragrant flower:
Are you truly as delicate as you appear?
Do you dwell alone in your vast green field?
Are you beginning to wilt in the hot sun?
Did I crush you when I held you in my hands?
Perish those thoughts from your mind!
You are the very symbol of floral strength.
An ocean of botanical beauty surrounds you.
Your bloom reaches up to touch the sunny sky.
When my thoughtless hands released you,
your ever-present power and beauty
sprang back, and the iconic Iris,
floral mistress of the red roses
and all that dwells in her eternal garden,
reigns as queen over the field of flowers!
