Don't Stare At Me

Don't Stare At Me

"Girls get feelings when they hold my gaze. They can't meet my stare."

He had said that to me in a mocking tone; unmatched challenging dare.

My lips never falter from that camera fixed smile, but my eyes they show

The inner depths of my core; the root of my million souls.

"Really?" I challenged back. "They must have been easily swayed."

Me, I'm a tree that bends with the wind but I stay where I stay.

His hand cups my chin and forces my face upwards.

His gaze connects with mine; my eyes wanting to dart downwards.

I feel my limbs going weak; I cower at his judgement.

I know he's reading me; can feel my fearful sentiment.

His hand reluctantly retracts as if amused by my expression.

He wants to keep his hand there. He's enjoying the tension.

I hold his stare and he looks away. I breathe a sigh of utter relief.

"Don't do that again." I say as firmly as I can to retain my dignity.

"Do what?" he asks smiling, already knowing; playfully

I narrow my eyes and feel my voice falter. "Don't stare at me."
