Staring Into A Midnight Ceiling

Staring Into A Midnight Ceiling

Why do you allude me so?
Like an elusive creature
I can never catch
slipping gently through my fingers
anytime I come close.

How I desperately long
for those beautiful dreams
only your tender kiss
can provide
for me.

And I'm restless in my days
'cause we're not together at night.
Yet the angrier I grow
with you
the more you stay away.

Was it that I scorned you when I was a child
and you were never the one I wanted?
So in return,
is the vengeance you seek
to flee
after just mere moments
with me?

You tease me with the minutes we spend together,
and the way you treat me
can be just as cruel.

But I want you back,
I need you back,
no others can treat me the way that you do.
Taking my problems of this world away,
and giving me joy
if not for a few.

The rest of my nights I lye awake
staring into a midnight ceiling.
Wanting for you,
waiting for you,
pleading for you.
Come back.....
