My Birthday

We sat on a porch together, as alone as we've been in a while.
You made me open your present(Even though I was scared of ripping it), I carefully broke the deep green seal on your homemade, tea-stained paper.
the little booklet opened, and on the first page was written, 'for my love,'.
You read me the poems you'd written, some I remembered you telling me about, others were very, very new, they were all about how much you loved me.
I leaned in close to catch you sweet, tender whisper(you were worried someone would overhear)the beautiful lines you wrote me.
My dear, my sweet dear, why wont you publish your poems? They are beautiful, everyone would love you, and them.
That is one of my fondest memories, one of my favorite days with you. Can it really be a memory if it was only a week ago? I think so, time loses meaning with you, and I'm happy just to be here, now, with you.

Never say you love someone if you dont,
If you do, tell them often, people forget.
