Night Dance

Night Dance

Swallowed by the thick darkness,
we whirl about in a lost corner
of a forgotten garden, where the
fireflies spark the warm black night
and the crickets fiddle out the music
to our clandestine evening ritual.
The moon watches in still silence
while the stars wink down upon
our secret sin, and the deep grey,
shadowy leaves wave at us with
airy voices of hushed whispering
as we step, embrace and turn,
our eyes twinkling on our ghostly
pale faces and our teeth flashing
in brief sad smiles for a world
that cannot hear the music, and
would never follow the steps.
