The Card Game (A Metaphor)

The Card Game (A Metaphor)

You played your blackest ace.
The smoke swirled around your head
while the unheard laughter hummed in
the stale grey air, and your sardonic
sneer slashed at my throat and burned
my eyes, as you slowly laid down the
card that rang out a death knell for my
last queen, and destroyed all my jacks.
You played your blackest ace
and buried my final king.
