Come Before Winter

Come Before Winter

Don't let me stand at my silver, frosted window
gazing at the dead, frozen ground, covered
with thick, icy waves of white, blowing snow.
Come to me before winter... When the autumn
leaves are floating down on us in a show of color,
and the trees are pregnant with ripe, red apples.
Don't let me sit before the crackling fire as the
warm, grey shadows dance on the walls, and the
snowflakes ripple and whirl outside in a frozen game.
Come to me before winter... When the crisp, fall winds
whistle whimsical tunes of the dying year, and our
trickling tears run in rivulets of passionate joy.
