Another Day

Another Day

The rooster trumpets the dawn
as the delicate web of frost melts
to droplets of dew and the birds
begin their early morning chorus.
The piercing pulse of the alarm
shatters my dreams and pulls me
into the reality of another day.
The sun shoots angular rays into the
grey dusty air of the chilly room,
while the sleepy world cranks up
its engine and warms up its brain.
The cold hard floor shocks my feet
as the needles of the sun jab at
my eyes. Another day has begun.
Another day... without her... again.
