The Earthquake & The Rain

The Earthquake & The Rain

There is a deep rumbling at my feet
and a gathering of black clouds
while the leaves blow and the birds
scatter through the charged air.
(For you are like an earthquake
and a summer storm in my life:
You have opened the Earth
and poured down your love
from the skies upon my head)
The planet is starting to shake as
the sky unzips and rains down
a deluge of liquid silver over all
the parched, trembling land.
I am shaken, I am baptized... I am loved!
