The Lingering

The Lingering

He hears the sound
coming through like a
distant howl of passion,
pulsing in his burning ears
with muffled fire.
(That sound... That voice)
He sees the image
radiating before him
like a ghostly dream,
scalding his crimson eyes
with a rolling boil.
(That face... Those eyes)
He feels the touch
caressing like a soft cloud,
erupting ripples of icy bumps
on quivering pale flesh,
as the memory of HER
lingers in his heart
and burns in his head.
