But Then

But Then

I can watch
my skin
ripple with
or burn with
a fire
born from
a self-created
I can feel
my head
screaming with
and raging with
I can hear
my teeth
grind and grit
with anxiety
or chatter from
the icy wind
that howls
in my ears.
I may look
over the edge
ready to fall
into the
black chasm
of despair
and loss...
But then...
Then I look
your eyes
and I know.
I know
the truth.
And my
falls back
into place
and I lie down
in peace
deep inside
the love
that abides within
your heart.
