They raced ahead together
Like twin rays of light,
Unable to pass
One another,
Able only to veer away.

In this way
They became de-synchronous,
As they struggled
To work around the other
Until they came to rest
A good distance apart,
No longer familiar
And heaving.

And so they must plunge,
Gouging their ways back,
Dashing madly
Until their paces
Are once again even
And understanding.

Such things must grasp
At the aged hands of time
And all of their sageness,
Resisting the realization
Of brighter lights.
