Deathbed Paradise

Deathbed Paradise

She was the sickness,
yet she was
my only cure.
I could lie inside
a hot pool
of toxic sweat,
radiating impassioned fever -
My scarlet skin
glistening with
damp desire.
My racing heart
burned with jealousy
for the dead,
as I squirmed on my
soggy bed of pain,
for then I could
lie in rapture
among the worms,
enshrouded by
the cold, wet earth
and forever lost inside
her mind's embrace.
Let my candle
be snuffed out
forever,
for she was the sickness,
yet she was
my only cure -
My deathbed
was my
paradise.
