I walked into science class
on that cold wintry day,
and my heart cracked like glass
when I watched you turn away

All I needed was one word
all I needed was a chance
your voice, by me, was not unheard
but all you ever gave me was a glance

You were sitting there all alone,
but this time I turned and looked away
if only I could've somehow known
all that I know today

I could've went and sat by you
I could've gave a smile
but somehow I'd thought we'd pull through
that this was just a trial

And it took me three years of silence,
to understand some things aren't meant to be,
I thought it was just shyness
but what I never allowed myself to see,

Was all I ever had to say
was just one simple hello
yet my pride got in the way
and I waited far too long, I know

I keep hoping that we'll meet
though my anticipations disappearing
and anymore we rarely seem to speak
perhaps I've finally reached a clearing

I hate to say this but it needs to be done
this silence is tearing me apart,
maybe I've had this all wrong,
so I think I'll take back my heart
and start moving along.
