The French Girl

The French Girl

truth is an enucleated, restless cadaver
relentless it be in its refusal to be smothered
heartless by nature, haunting by rumination
it overcomes my barriers, overwhelms my defenses
leaves me standing under a cloud of doubt
once impregnable to insecurity and depression
titanically crushed with a few foreign words
the ignition of my desire can only create shadow
a deceivingly bright shadow inspires fear in bliss

my friend is gone, scorched by a passion, a sun
replaced with an honest lyric, a mere penumbra
torn is the texture of temperament
unpatchable, the mortal wound to contentment
either way i see a part of me die
as inescapable as the sun
only a single ray, and i crumble
the foundation shall fall, a fallacy shall begin
all shall be for naught, find me in magni nominis umbra
